We had a varied week this week following on from some of the subjects we covered last week.
Today we covered more on VIkings and their ships and learned about their travel and trade and practiced drawing their dragonboats. Little Miss 8 had a new spelling list today of 13 words - 10 new words and 3 old words carried over from last week. The spelling words were: about, guild, guilt, stopped, airplane, agree, choose, pail, churn, hair, stray, stream and pale.
We focussed on English today and covered antonyms and prefixes. We are reading Stuart Little and are reading a chapter or so each day.
Today we ordered numbers and to follow along with the theme we learnt the differences between dictionaries, encyclopedias and glossaries in English and practiced putting words in alphabetical order. We looked at how to find names, countries and items in the dictionaries and what items we might find in the dictionary and glossary and covered numerical and chronological order.
We practiced our number rounding today covering tens, hundreds and thousands and did some online and offline work. Little Miss 8 wrote a poem in her workbook today about yellow flowers. She also practiced some online reading of her reader My Sister Sally and did an art project entitled "What's Outside Your Window".
We finished off our Math worksheets and practiced more on rounding numbers. Little Miss 8 did her spelling test and got 11/13 and we covered comparing and contrasting in Science.
