Emilia was given the new words for the spelling list this week: cracker, sugar, fourteen, already, cure, hobby, pint, sure, army, curl, hold, pitch, surely. She started the week off on comprehension and we dabbled in mutiplication in order to break it down so it wasn't too overwhelming as she has been dreading it. And to cover both language and maths we discussed various mathematics words such as diagrams, graphs, charts and tables and talked about the differences between them. She also did some reading on Ivy and Bean and clocked up 100 minutes in reading time.
We had an interesting day today in the sense that we mixed up a few different subjects for variation. We did some work on multiplication, comprehension and summary work in Language Arts, talked about Dr Seuss, discussed some scientific discoveries such as that of radiation and vaccines and did some work on making observations and scientific methods.
Today we covered Inuits focussing a bit on their language and talked a little bit more about multiplication so she had a good grasp of it.
Little Miss 8 did her spelling test day and achieved 13/13. Way to go! We decided we would do an outdoor session on map reading so I gave her a map and let her lead the way from the Plaza to some landmarks around San Blas and she did an awesome job. We didn't even get lost!
