We started off the week covering our spelling words: brand, fault, volleyball, laugh, scarecrow, brass, fill, light, scarf, walk, bought, question, large, visiting and telephone. We talked about nonliteral meanings such as come out of her shell, butter up, bent over backwards and spilled the beans.
We followed that up by talking about the use of commas.
We covered simple machines to make our work easier - ones that involved pulleys, axles, inclined planes, wedges and levers.
We also looked at multi-syllable words and how to decode them.
Today was a math day and we looked at how to work out the price of one object from multiple items using division.
We covered mathematical pattern rules and completed our chapter test on patterns in which Little Miss 8 scored 100%.
We did the spelling test today and Little Miss 8 scored 12/15. We did more work on unit prices and finished up the chapter test on money.
We finished up the week talking about chapters, chapter heading, subheadings and captions.
