As per usual we started off with our spelling words: beet, dwell, pushes, throw, began, early, itself, queen, tipped, begin, earn, jellyfish, queer, today and headband.
We started the week off with Social Studies - specifically on Alaska and terms like longitude and latitude. We talked about the oceans of the world and how people adapt differently to the environments where they live.
We continued on with Sequential order and did some work on Fact and Opinion, followed by Division.
We drew a map of Australia and plotted different towns and cities in each state to familiarise ourselves with some of the place names mentioned in the book "Are We There Yet".
We watched Dot and the Kangaroo, followed by an episode of Skippy and looked at the subject of kangaroos in-depth.
We did some more work on division and discussed heat and heat producers in Science.
We talked about the difference between autobiography and biography and discussed briefly the lives of Roald Dahl, Eleanor Roosevelt and Helen Keller. We then followed up with different aspects of fiction writing.
We did some more work on fact and opinion and then discussed energy, hot and cold and heat transference.
Little Miss 8 finished her division and multiplication section and did extremely well scoring 100%.
We started reading "The Magic Booomerang" by Mark Greenwood.
Little Miss 8 scored 12/15 on her spelling test and we finished up the week with fairy tales, looking specifically at the story of Aladdin (not the Disney version) and Hansel and Gretel.
We aslo commenced fractions which she much prefers to multiplication and division. :)
