There is no doubting that Pinterest is interesting and like all social media, it can also become quite addictive. Do a search of your favourite topic and you can see how quickly time can pass. But have you tried using it for business purposes?
What is fun about Pinterest is that it allows you to showcase the personality behind the business and the brand. All work and no play can get kind of dull - Pinterest allows you to achieve a nice balance.
You can create "boards" for both work and pleasure but if you do use it for business purposes then like any social media, always err on the side of caution. Aim to be professional at all times while at the same time letting the "real you" shine through.
Pinterest is a great way to share parts of your business visually and for those in visually stimulating industries, it can really come in handy. Try pinning your blog posts and various parts of your website and ask your friends to repin so that you can widen your circulation.
Pinterest does have a business account and for those with a personal account, it is easy enough to convert. I love to share products and brands with my followers, particularly of people and organisations that I really admire.
I have always had a soft spot for quotes and as a writer these really come in handy when it comes to inspiration. My boards are generally focussed on blogging, quotes, writing, business, books and films although I do have some just for fun boards on the subjects of coffee and travel. For those that don't know me personally, these are particularly apt.
If you haven't pinned yet, then I recommend you try. Feel free to follow my boards at http://www.pinterest.com/michelletupy/ and I look forward to doing the same.
