Today we revisited Chinchero. We have not been back since July of last year but with a long list of shopping to do for one of our hostel guests, today was the day.
So there were three - me, Little Miss 9 and one of our guests from Casa Emilia.
The trip was meant to be brief - we left by 9.00 and returned just after midday but we sure packed a lot of stuff into that short period. We caught the local collectivo (minibus) there and back and I must admit by the time I arrived I was feeling a little queasy from the altitude and the bends.
However we arrived at the market safe and sound and did our spot of souvenir shopping. I managed to cross a few things off the shopping list for our Canadian guest although I think Little Miss 9 was the winner as she was in a full-on shopping mood. We were barely there half an hour and she managed to pick up a lovely alpaca scarf, blue bracelet and some woollen gloves (I might just have to borrow that scarf myself one day).
After that Little Miss 9 decided to act as a tour guide and take the two of us down to the ruins. We wandered through rocks and climbed down to the pigs feeding at the bottom (I kid you not!). However I must admit that the walk to the top tired me out somewhat.
Now saying this I try to do a hike with the kids every week and it usually does not bother me, but today it did. It was exceptionally warm however and the climb was very steep but with a few intermittent breaks we made it to the top and back to the bus stop for the return journey home.
