The last few posts have funnily enough been centred around food but that is because that is basically what we have been focussed on over the last few days (besides deciding what lays ahead for us in the short and long term). We have been shopping fresh at the local markets (the ladies are always happy to try to upsell their fruit and vegetables) and when we need a break, we pop out for ice cream or a treat in the afternoon, particularly in light of the warm weather we have been having.
We have sampled a couple of the local ice cream places in Cusco; Dolce Vita being one and El Hada the other. Both made great coffee and we have sampled a few flavours at both places. El Hada interestingly enough make their own ice cream and while it is reviewed as the best place in Cusco to buy ice cream, (I tried the pineapple flavour and thought it refreshing), I would recommend Dolce Vita as being the preference if you have kids. There have more kid-friendly flavours and it is slightly cheaper on the pocket.
Either way, if you like ice cream, you probably won't be too disappointed with either choice and both are a stone's throw from the Plaza de Armas, making it a convenient stop whichever way you are heading.
